A personal letter to all my patients
It is with mixed emotions that I have to announce my retirement from Martin Steels Ltd, an Optometry business I started way back in 1983 when it was just me and my newly recruited
Receptionist, Tess.
Since then I grew it organically in to a three-branch business. While others have grown to larger chains, I felt three was just enough that I could still manage to keep the Practices on a highly personal level, as that has been the most important thing to me. I not only have looked after my lovely patients over a long period of time but a lot of you have become friends as well.
My philosophy has always to treat Patients as I would wish to be treated myself, which I realise is not ground breaking. However in these days of quick fixes and fast everything, we like to provide a sanctuary of peace and kindness offering high quality eyecare in a tranquil environment. This seems to have proved to be a winning formula to me and even without my input, the team is carrying on this philosophy.
I am extremely proud of the team that I have built and have come to join me over the years to carry on the Practices that I started. In the future you can be assured that the whole team in all three branches work together to provide the highest quality of care and I hope the name Martin Steels continues to be synonymous with those values.
So I wanted to offer you all a huge thank you for being such loyal Patients and I hope that you continue to patronise our Practices where you will find the Optometry to be of a far higher standard than I could have dreamed of when I set out.
Two of my daughters have joined the teams over the years and there is no prouder moment for a Father than to watch his girls grow into the highly competent women they are now. They will tell you that I have offered no nepotism and that would be true! The whole team deserve equal praise for what they have achieved on every level.
So I bid a fond farewell to you all, so that I can look after my beautiful wife Angie, and when time allows I will be on the golf course, on my bike or gone fishing.
Much love to you all.
Martin Steels
